Thinking About
Our Gifts
The decision about what each
household of our church family will commit to the Pilgrim Rising Campaign is one
we hope will be made with both joy and seriousness, with all members of each
home involved. And we need to remember to make God a key participant in our
decisions, for this is truly a faith-based gift. It arises out of our personal
faith and symbolizes the value we place on the ministry of our church, both to
ourselves and those we know, and to all God’s children in the community,
nation and world outside the doors of our church. Our financial commitments also
rest on faith that we will be able to fulfill our promises.
But how do we know how much we can do, without too great a risk to our other
present and future financial needs? One helpful tool is to break down possible
gifts over the weeks and months of the commitment period. Then we see how modest
gifts, made regularly over time, result in totals that may leave us amazed at
what we can do! Find an amount on the chart below that might be both challenging
and realistic for you or your family.

It is surprising to see that for the equivalent of the $15 we might spend for a
large pizza and a bottle of soft drink a week, we could give about $3,000 to
help our church succeed in this important campaign! And for the price of eating
out once a week at a family style restaurant, we could offer between $5,000 and
$6,000 over the four years!
