God,
we bring our gift of music; (from “When the Morning Stars Together,” Albert F. Bayly) Our Music Ministry Team

Word is experienced by diverse people in many different ways, hymnody, anthems,
and music are drawn from the richness of the World Church. South African freedom songs, Puerto Rican folk hymns, sixteenth century
German chorales, ancient psalm tones, and newly commissioned hymns offer
boundless ways to trumpet the splendor of God’s realm. Historic texts by Martin Luther and Charles Wesley stand in perfect
harmony with contemporary texts by Ruth Duck and Thomas Troeger, connecting us
to the worship experience of faithful ones who have gone before us, and tune our
hearts to sing God’s praise in this new day. The musical ensembles of Pilgrim Church capture a wide range of musical expression. The Chancel Choir rehearses each Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, delving into the rich history and current offerings of sacred choral music.
The Pilgrim Bell Choir supports congregational singing with hymn enhancements and fills the sanctuary with the joyful pealing of bells. The Pilgrim Jazz Ensemble brings us energetic, vocal and instrumental settings of gospel tunes, African American spirituals, and other contemporary musical forms.
The Children’s
Choir reminds us that people of all ages are called to be ministers of music. Folk singers, actors, instrumentalists and dancers bring their individual
gifts as well. The result is a
blended celebration of the liturgical arts, creating a depth and breadth of
meaning that could not be celebrated through one musical style or artistic
medium alone. Ever eager to mirror the
growth and diversity of the church, the music ministry is always looking for new
friends who are willing to share their gifts and become part of this ongoing
legacy of fine music. At Pilgrim
Church, you will find a warm welcome as helping hands guide you to your role in
this exciting and vital ministry through music and the liturgical arts. Let
every instrument be tuned for praise! (from
