Stewardship

At Pilgrim United Church of Christ, we encourage our members and friends to envision stewardship as a fundamental aspect of their spiritual growth and development.  Giving to God is a joyful response to the blessings that God has already poured into our lives as individuals and as a community.  More often than not, people find that the more invested they become in any organization — the more committed they are with their time and talents — the more they give of their treasure.  We believe that a responsible theology of stewardship takes all of this into account.  Offering God your spiritual as well as your financial resources not only helps to bolster the body of Christ; it also deepens the well of your own spirituality.

In his Second Letter to the Christians in Corinth, the Apostle Paul wrote, “God loves a cheerful giver” (9:7).  In the same spirit, we believe that we give to God not because we must, but because we may.  We give to God, because we are jubilant about the multifarious ways that Jesus has changed our lives.
