Special / Seasonal Services
Pilgrim holds a number of special services throughout the year.
They are:
Mardi Gras
Complete with a Dixieland Jazz Band, beads, and boas — this is a Pilgrim staple not to be missed!
Ash Wednesday
We receive ashes and share Holy Communion as we begin the Lenten journey together.
Lent
This is a six-and-a-half week period of introspection and contemplation.
Palm Sunday
Join the parade of palms as Jesus makes his triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
Maundy Thursday
This is a somber service of Tenebrae (the darkening) as we share Communion and remember Jesus’ betrayal.
Good Friday
An ecumenical service: Catholics and Protestants walk throughout Tremont and hear the Seven Last Words of Christ.
Easter Vigil
The night before Easter: we stand together, one last time, before the tomb that holds remains of Christ.
Sunrise Service
The Tremont ecumenical community gathers in Lincoln Park to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior.
Easter
“Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen Indeed! Hallelujah!”
Pentecost
We celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit, who gave birth to the Christian Church on this day, as revealed in Acts 2.
World Communion Sunday
As part of Christ’s Church Universal, we share the bread and the cup with Christians around the globe.
All Saints Day
Remembering the saints of the Church (past and present), we light candles in memoriam of friends and members lost.
Thanksgiving
As a Pilgrim people, we give thanks for the blessings in our lives with the great cloud of witnesses that came before us.
Advent
The four weeks of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love come alive in our beautiful sanctuary.
World AIDS Day Service
Pilgrim participates in World AIDS Day as we stand in solidarity with those living with (or have died) from HIV/AIDS.
Blue Christmas
The holidays are a painful time for many people. Come, as we share our grief and hear a word of hope.
Christmas Eve
We sing, “O come, all ye faithful…not some of ye faithful.” Listen to special music and the nativity story.
Epiphany
With the Magi, we journey to Bethlehem to pay homage to the Christ child — the Prince of Peace.
Please Note:
We also celebrate many of the Jewish high holy days. Stay posted for seasonal details.
