Fellowship of the Cake
First Sunday of every month

On Sunday, May 4, we will start the Pilgrim Birthday Celebration! Every first Sunday of the month, we will have a very special birthday cake at Coffee Hour to honor everyone who will be celebrating a birthday that month. Cakes will be baked and decorated by the “Fellowship of the Cake” in Pilgrim’s kitchen. If you wish to contribute in honor of someone’s birthday or wish to join the Fellowship, please contact Lyn Byrd.

Pride Planning Meeting
Sunday, May 4

In Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ’s history we have taken stands against injustices, racism, sexism, wars, violence, and many other inequities. We don’t just talk… we also “walk the walk”. We will march in Cleveland’s 2008 Pride Parade to show our support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender persons.

We need you and your friends to help us! On Sunday, May 4 right after the service, there will be a short meeting to discuss Pilgrim’s participation in the Cleveland Pride Parade and Festival. We need young, old, straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and friends of Pilgrim to help us. This year’s Pride Parade and Festival is on Saturday, June 21, 2008.

If you can’t march or ride in the parade, we still need your help. We need help with our festival booth, constructing a float, creating marketing materials, and we need help to offset the cost of the Pride Ads and expenses associated with Pride. If you would like to make a donation, please mark in the memo portion of your check “LGBT Outreach.”

If you have any questions, please see Bill Grulich, Linda Severance, or Pastor Tricia.

Also coming next month...

Wednesday, June 11 • 7:00 PM

Movie night! Join us for a viewing and discussion of the movie, Kundun. Although this movie is excellent, few people have seen it. Released in 1997 Kundun tells the story of the Dalai Lama’s formative years; the search and discovery of the incarnation of their ruler up through the invasion of Tibet by China. The director weaved the core philosophy of Buddhism in this wonderful tale. Popcorn and other snacks will be served.

Women's Study Group

This is a very controversial subject which is in the news very often these days, and promises to be of interest to all of us Pilgrim women. All Pilgrim women and their guests are invited to bring a dish to share on this morning. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Film Series Group

If you haven't been to the movies with Pilgrim, there is a group of us who get together monthly for a movie discussion and refreshments. It is a great way to get to know others in the church. Please check back to find out the title, date, and time of this month's outing!

A note from the film series group organizer: "Hi – Hard to believe it has been another month and I hope you are enjoying the wonderful spring we have had. Our regular movie night falls on this Sunday. I realize that it is mother's day, but many of us still might want to go. Hope to see you there and invite a friend to come with you. –Rob
